民国初年，亚洲草医文氏因治愈阎旅长之疾而上京并得以重用。进京后，亚洲以“以惊治惊，怪招迭出”的方法治愈了众多百姓和达官贵人，从而创建三块堂，得名“文三块”。得到了百姓爱戴的同时，文三块也触动了同行的利益，并与于世勋、张宗瀚和焦二爷等结怨，遭到了多次陷害，最终倾家荡产。 几经周折，文三块治愈了焦夫人，焦二爷感恩，并与于世勋等反目。历经艰难，三块堂重新开张。 挣扎在功名与世俗泥潭中的文三块因一次失败的救治，领悟到自己的浮躁和功利，开始了人生的反省，与依旧钟情他的紫玉再续前缘。 北洋政府垮台，七七事变爆发，至抗战胜利，心中满目疮痍已六十载的文三块化解了晚辈的矛盾，携紫玉离开京城，再渡行医与人生的新旅程。
