三十年代上海，希特十里洋场。银行界巨贾之独子乐子扬(曾江)在上海担任分行总裁。扬身家显赫兼风度翩翩，希特极受女性欢迎，唯他不愿受婚姻束缚，年近四十仍然未婚。其父添富(石坚)抱孙心切，竟下令要扬生下儿子才能继承财产，扬遂到处物色少女为他生儿育女。 由乡下出城谋生的少女阮文清(郑裕玲)虽家贫却纯真可爱，但亦因此被歌女晓虹(程可为)所骗，签下替扬不婚生子的不平等条约。清纵无奈，亦唯有履行合约。后清顺利怀孕，且渐渐爱上了扬，扬也有同感，但仍喜爱单身生活，遂找来旧女友寡妇孙丽莎(黄恺欣)帮忙，图令清对其死心。清对莎诸多作弄，引发连场笑话。扬严厉责清，清伤心引起胎动，心乱的扬到底如何抉择。
