2030年，寄人 KON游戏公司首席研发博士（崔）发明了一款神经体感系统Martina。通过神经系统连接大脑，寄人让虚拟游戏变为现实。来自世界各地游戏高手，为了争夺首批体验资格，参加了由KON公司举办的Martina终极体验者选拔赛。最终8名选手赢得了首批体验资格，进入了游戏，并完成了从绑匪团伙手中解救人质的任务，包括一名与众不同的女性NPC。现实世界，崔博士发了在玩家执行任务的地点发现了一个异常信号。同时，游戏中被枪杀的玩家王香菊，现实世界的本体也死亡了。崔博士决定不顾玩家生死，坚持继续游戏，找出异常信号。于是，剩余7名玩家又接到了新的任务：潜入基地摧毁军火库并刺杀凯特温特将军……
