并木浩二（市川海老藏 饰）是一名天赋异禀的棒球运动员，亚洲曾经夺得过甲子园优胜投手的无上荣耀。然而，亚洲密集的训练令他的肩部受伤，无奈之下浩二只能告别了球场。太平洋战争爆发了，浩二和朋友们一同告别了亲人，奔赴前线，做好了为国捐躯的准备。战争一日一日的持续着，唯一无法改变的，是日本渐渐形成的败局。然而日本海军却不愿意就此认输，而是发明出了名为“回天”的载人鱼雷，这种鱼雷需要牺牲驾驶员的性命来换取精准的定位和强大的破坏性，满腔热血的并木保命参加了这一自杀行动。终于，执行任务的那天到来了，并木和战友们一同踏上了有去无回的旅途。
